Macie Stewart (US) + SUPPORT: Matchess (US)

Experience the acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and composer Macie Stewart as she visits Musikcaféen with her atmospheric and genre-exploring music.

American sound artist Matchess warms up for Macie Stewart with a sensory concert performance.

Macie Stewart, known for her work with Makaya McCraven, Finom, and a wide range of avant-garde projects, creates a unique blend of improvisation, string arrangements, and electronic elements.

With her latest album, When the Distance is Blue, she explores the sound of moments suspended between destinations – a dreamy and cinematic sonic universe that draws the listener in.

Look forward to a concert where the boundaries between composition and improvisation dissolve, inviting you to let your thoughts drift along with the flow of sound.

Support: Matchess (US)

Matchess – the alias of Whitney Johnson – is an experimental sound artist from Chicago. Drawing on her background as a sociologist and composer, she works with sound as a medium to affect both body and mind.

Her works explore, among other things, brainwave entrainment – an alternative technique that uses binaural beats to induce relaxed or energized mental states in the listener.

In her concerts and installations, she combines viola, synthesizers, field recordings, and sine waves to create an aesthetic and research-based sound universe.

This evening, she supports Macie Stewart and invites the audience into a unique sound world where performance and installation merge – and where the boundaries between art, science, and spirituality are continuously challenged.
