Nova concerts: Afrocuban Jazz Reimagined
Why reimagine Afro-Cuban Jazz? Because genres evolve when voices from different worlds meet. This project brings together distinct musical identities to explore how tradition can move forward without losing its pulse.
For the first time, four acclaimed artists unite on stage: saxophonist Ariel Bringuez, percussionist Eliel Lazo, bassist Yasser Pino, and pianist-vocalist Claudia Campagnol. Bringuez’s forward-thinking saxophone language, Lazo’s deeply rooted Afro-Cuban percussion, Pino’s refined and expressive bass lines, and Campagnol’s European jazz sensibility with an RnB edge converge to reshape the genre and create a fresh musical dialogue.
Introducing Ariel Bringuez to Copenhagen
Ariel Bringuez is a Cuban saxophonist with two Latin Grammy Awards for his collaborations with Chucho Valdés (Tribute to Irakere) and Ivan Melon Lewis (Voyager), as well as a Grammy Award for his work with Alejandro Sanz. He also received a Latin Grammy nomination for his own album Alma en Cuba.
Known for his innovative blend of Cuban tradition and modern jazz, Bringuez now brings his sound to Copenhagen for the first time. This debut marks a milestone for Nova Concerts.
This concert will be a true jazz party. As winter fades, this event becomes the first ray of warmth welcoming spring. We promise a night where music once again takes the lead into new sonic territories. Step out of the cold and into a warm, vibrant Nova atmosphere where the past and future of Afro-Cuban Jazz meet in celebration. Join us for a night of energy, warmth, and pure musical joy.
