Paradise Jazz: Karl-Martin Almqvist & Kaspar Vadsholt - Special Edition Quartet

A new and exciting collaboration comes to life as tenor saxophonist Karl-Martin Almqvist, bassist Kaspar Vadsholt, drummer Martin Andersen, and guitarist Niclas Knudsen debut their new Special Edition Quartet on stage at Paradise Jazz Copenhagen.

For Martin Andersen and Kaspar Vadsholt, this project is the realization of a long-held musical dream. Having worked together for years as a tight and powerful rhythm section, they have long wished to collaborate closely with the acclaimed Swedish saxophonist Karl-Martin Almqvist.

“We’ve always admired Karl-Martin’s ability to balance lyrical beauty with explosive energy in his playing. Now we finally get the chance to create something together – it feels completely natural,” say Vadsholt and Andersen.

The quartet’s repertoire combines selected jazz standards with original compositions written by the group members. What unites the music is a deep love for jazz – its tradition, its renewal, and its free, creative energy.
