Paradise Jazz: Mads Egetoft Qvintet
Saxophonist Mads Egetoft is one of the distinctive voices on the Danish jazz scene. Known for his work with the Kresten Osgood Quintet, his musical reach extends far beyond – from the rock trio Baujillaud to the experimental Vs Doom. With his sharp, rhythmic tone and abstract sensibility, Egetoft blends tradition and innovation into a personal sound that constantly moves and surprises.
For this concert, he presents a new quintet featuring some of his closest artistic collaborators:
- Jesper Løvdal, saxophonist and composer, known for his curious and open approach to the jazz tradition.
- David Besiakov, drummer with a rare sense of presence and sonic creativity, providing a unique drive to any ensemble.
- Asger Thomsen, bassist and a leading figure in Danish avant-garde and free improvisation.
- Simon Linnert, pianist with a lyrical and intense style, uniting warmth and edge through a refined harmonic sensibility.
The repertoire moves between original compositions by Egetoft and Thomsen and interpretations of works by Eric Dolphy, Eliot Cardinaux, Andrew Hill, and Tadd Dameron. Expect a concert where five distinctive musicians push jazz into new territories – combining energy, depth, and spontaneity.
