Workshop // The Power of the Circle m. Raphael Moussa

Raphael Moussa Hillebrand invites you to a dynamic and inclusive workshop where you'll explore both technique and different ways of connecting through dance - with cyphers, soul trains, and call and response.

Titel: The Power of the circle
At the heart of this experience are community, creativity, and improvisation. The circle - dance’s original form – is not only a space for movement but a vessel of power, history, and collective presence. Together, we will dive into its deep roots and explore how dance can become a way to connect - with one another and with something greater than ourselves.

This workshop is open to everyone, regardless of prior dance experience or background. You don’t need to be a professional – just curious about expressing yourself through movement and meeting others in a vibrant, creative space.

About Raphael

Raphael Moussa Hillebrand is a choreographer, dancer, curator, lecturer, and activist. Born in Hong Kong, with roots in both Germany and West Africa, he grew up in Berlin and was shaped by hip-hop culture. His artistic work is a powerful fusion of body and language - a creative journey through decolonial narratives that invites us to question habitual ways of thinking. With a presence that resonates and an openness that inspires, Hillebrand shows how the body can become a tool for challenging injustice and creating change. In 2020, he was awarded the German Dance Prize for his significant artistic contributions to the field. His most recent work, 2050 - Unsere Utopien, premiered in October 2024 at Radialsystem in Berlin.
