Final Descent Into Vinterjazz: Basile Bremaud (FR)
Deeply rooted in these territories, his music is shaped by years of immersion in local repertoires, where song, dance and instrumental practice form a shared and inseparable language.
Brémaud treats traditional music not as a fixed heritage but as a terrain of exploration. Through extended vocal lines, drone-based textures and subtle rhythmic grounding, he draws out the hypnotic and meditative qualities embedded in these songs, gently pushing them toward ambient and even techno-inflected sensibilities. His performances move between intimacy and trance, balancing narrative poetry with a tactile attention to sound as material.
The program unfolds as a journey through melodies that accompany everyday life, rituals and collective memory. Inspired by the idea of “simples”, healing plants in traditional knowledge, Brémaud approaches music with the same care and humility: as something that soothes, sustains and quietly strengthens. His playing invokes both the gentleness of familiar gestures and the vital force that animates body and spirit.
Alongside his solo work, Brémaud is active in groups such as Duo Artense, Tornamai and TRES, and is a key member of the La Nòvia collective, contributing to a contemporary reimagining of traditional French music that honours its origins while opening it toward new forms.
On stage, through voice, violin, foot percussion and an immersive sound setup, he creates a sonic landscape that feels at once ancient and present, grounded and expansive, inviting the listener into a space where region, memory and transformation converge.
