Final Descent Into Vinterjazz: Portal Pets (DK/HN)
With roots in the city’s experimental underground, the band crafts a dark and immersive sound world shaped by celestial melodies, gothic atmospheres and raw emotional intensity. Their music moves fluidly between grunge, folk, metal and alt-rock, carried by a haunting interplay of voice, guitar, bass and drums.
Formed by interdisciplinary artists Xenia Xamanek and Emil Palme, and joined by drummer Oliver Laumann, Portal Pets unites three distinct artistic voices into a shared sonic language that feels both theatrical and deeply vulnerable. Their songs explore fragility, devotion and transformation, woven into expansive textures that feel ritualistic, intimate and unsettling in equal measure.
Their lyrical universe shifts between Spanish and English, reinforcing the sense of being suspended between worlds. Portal Pets invites the listener into a dreamlike gothic realm where beauty, sorrow and magic are inseparable, and where emotional intensity becomes a portal rather than a destination.
The band has released two singles, morningsun and ash, with two more to follow ahead of their debut album, scheduled for release in February.
