Kunst på Barsel * Golden Days Edition
Taking painting as her point of departure, Maria Wæhrens unfolds an intuitive and expressive practice centred on spirituality, dreams and sensory experience. In dialogue with Nikolaj Kunsthal’s architecture and history, the paintings move out into the space and become part of a total installation, where large-scale works, sculptures and wall paintings create an expanded sense of time and place.
As part of Golden Days’ theme Monster, we will take a closer look at the mysterious, dark and magical elements of Wæhrens’ universe. What lies between dream and reality, body and spirit, light and darkness? And how can art open up the cracks where the unknown — and perhaps even the monstrous — begins to appear?
The guided tour begins at 10:00, giving participants and their children the art centre to themselves until 11:00. There is plenty of room for prams, bottles and nappy changes.
Kunst på Barsel (Art on Parental Leave) is a popular concept for parents on parental leave and has attracted full houses for several years. It was founded by Malou Solfjeld, mother and art historian.
