Paradise Jazz: 2x2 Ploug/Skovbakke - Søndergård/Bornø

Mikkel and Jeppe have played together for over 20 years and have toured the world, both with Mikkel's trio and in collaboration with American tenor saxophonist Mark Turner. Their long history together forms the basis for a close and intuitive interplay.

Mikkel has made a strong mark on the international jazz scene with nearly 20 releases on renowned record labels in both the US and Europe. He has been nominated for Musician of the Year at the Danish Music Awards Jazz and is currently Lecturer of Jazz Guitar at the University of Zurich.

Jeppe is a versatile and sought-after bassist, known for his collaborations with Guldimund, Teitur, and I Got You On Tape, among others.

As a duo, they come together in an almost telepathic interplay, where the repertoire moves freely from jazz standards to music by Carl Nielsen—always with presence, musicality, and openness.

Jens Søndergaard and Thomas Bornø have been playing together for more than 25 years, and their new duo LP “Together” stems from a close, intimate musical collaboration. The music ranges from ballads and bossa nova to Latin and more uptempo numbers, always with sensitivity, swing, and humor.

Jens Søndergaard is a prominent veteran of the jazz scene and has played with international names such as Lee Konitz, Kenny Drew, Enrico Pieranunzi, and Horace Parlan. His personal saxophone sound is clearly inspired by Lee Konitz and Art Pepper and characterized by lyricism and presence.

Thomas Bornø graduated from the Rhythmic Music Conservatory and studied in New York. He is known for his swinging, responsive piano playing and his strong musical energy.

The duo sees their music as a musical conversation between two friends – a conversation that also speaks directly to the audience.
