The Art Workshop

On selected weekends, our skilled educators and artists move into the space. Here, we explore techniques, colours, and materials in depth, inspired by the exhibitions at the art centre. Whether you are experienced or trying it for the first time, you are welcome to explore, experiment, and take your own work home with you. The workshops are for families with children as well as individuals. All ages are welcome – with or without children!

Contemporary art moves directly into your hands
The Art Workshop is Nikolaj Kunsthal’s new open space for creative exploration, where contemporary art moves directly into your hands. Located in the Middle Gallery of the Tower, the space is open throughout the opening hours of the art centre. Drop in, pick up some colours and materials, and create at your own pace, or join one of our workshops at weekends and during school holidays. We create in dialogue with the materials and themes of the current exhibitions, so there is always something new to discover. 

Created within the Art 
During this period, the space bears a particularly distinctive mark: artist Maria Wæhrens has painted directly onto the walls as an extension of her exhibition “The Answer”. 

The Art Workshop is open during Nikolaj Kunsthal’s normal opening hours throughout the exhibition period for Maria Wæhrens’ “The Answer” and Christian Skjødt Hasselstrøm’s “Meridians”. Participation and materials are free with paid admission (children always enter free of charge).
