Black Holes Become Comics – Public Exhibition at Kongens Nytorv (20–31 August)
Discover black holes through comics!
As part of Black Hole Week 2026, the Center of Gravity at the Niels Bohr Institute invites everyone to a free outdoor exhibition at Kongens Nytorv from 20 to 31 August, where cutting-edge black hole research is transformed into visual stories. Created through a collaboration between scientists from the Niels Bohr Institute and student artists from the Graphic Storytelling Programme at VIA University College in Viborg, the exhibition presents a series of large-format comic posters that make one of the Universe's greatest mysteries accessible to visitors of all ages.
Made possible through the Villum Fonden, the exhibition accompanies the launch of the Black Hole Comic Book, an outreach project funded by the Carlsberg Foundation that combines science and graphic storytelling to communicate modern black hole physics in a creative and engaging way.
The exhibition is part of Black Hole Week 2026, organised by the Center of Gravity at the Niels Bohr Institute, a Danish National Research Foundation Center of Excellence. It is a city-wide celebration of black holes, gravitational waves and Einstein's theory of gravity, featuring talks, exhibitions, performances and public events across Copenhagen.
