Borguefül (FR) + Nils Gröndahl (DK/DE)

Experience two soloists transforming strings, effects, and voice into their sole instruments of expression in an intimate setting at Union.

In Borguefül’s mystical universe, solo bass explorations and commanding vocals intertwine, merging free improvisation with the traditions of French chanson.

Nils Gröndahl performs alone on stage, wielding a detuned violin and a sea of effect pedals to conjure an intense blend of droning riffs, melancholic ballads sung in German, and towering, gothic noise cathedrals.

Borguefül (FR)

Borguefül is the solo project of French double bassist and vocalist Mélanie Loisel. Drawing from free improvisation, contemporary composition, and the raw pulse of traditional song, Borguefül unfolds a world of dissonances, strange syllables and visceral soundscapes. Voice and double bass merge in earthy, hypnotic layers — rasping, droning, whispering, erupting — evoking rain, stone, wind, and monsters.

Sung in a revisited patois from Haute-Loire, the music vibrates with deep textures and fractured melodies, rooted in ritual, shadow, and soil. It's both ancient and experimental: a rough cartography of sensation, shaped by breath, bowed strings, and silence.

Released on Pagans Records and La République des Granges, the debut album Horst introduced Borguefül as a fierce and singular voice on the outer edges of folk and noise.

Nils Gröndahl (DE/DK)

Nils Gröndahl performs alone on stage. With his detuned violin and a sea of effect pedals, he builds an intense blend of droning riffs, melancholic ballads with German lyrics, and grand, gothic noise cathedrals.

He has played solo concerts everywhere from DR’s Concert Hall to Belgian churches and even the ladies’ restroom at Bremen Teater.

Beyond his solo work, he was a member of the band Under Byen and collaborates with a wide range of Danish and international artists — contributing string arrangements for Sky Ferreira, Baby In Vain, and Iceage, and performing as a violinist with acts such as Kellermensch, Jacob Bellens, MØ, and many others
