Toil is the weather of the body.
It gathers in the spine,
settles in the breath,
drives the weary forward.
In OCTOBER, toil is the engine 
hands in the dirt,
bones against the world,
a man wrestling fate
and the weight of a borrowed corpse.
Toil reveals what’s left
when survival is all that’s humanly possible.
