Sonic Architecture: SLOW – Ying-Hsueh Chen

Ying-Hsueh Chen returns to the unique acoustic space of Brønshøj Water Tower with a site-specific concert, where the music emerges spontaneously in dialogue with the tower’s remarkable resonance. The floating ceiling and massive concrete pillars create an extraordinary acoustic environment, allowing sound to linger in the air for up to 15 seconds.
The marimba’s wooden tones striking against concrete create a deep, dark, and layered soundscape, while the long echoes invite a slow, meditative musical journey. Here, the silence between the notes becomes just as important as the notes themselves, and the reverberation shapes the music as an active co-creator.
This will be a radical SLOW concert – a meditation on sound, time, material, and space.
