Paradise Jazz: Veronica & Veronika

This evening offers a meeting between two artists who share more than just music: Veronica Mortensen and Veronika Rud invite you to a double concert where two generations meet. Both singers have made their mark on the Danish jazz scene – one over the past two decades, the other in recent years.

The versatile singer and composer Veronika Rud from Aarhus has already made a name for herself on the Danish music scene with her debut EP “Mens Jeg Venter” (While I Wait), which has received a lot of attention on P8 JAZZ, among others. With curious improvisations and playful rhythms, she invites the audience into an atmospheric universe where she shares her inner life with honesty and presence. Her music is characterised by a strong love of tradition, but blends naturally with elements of modern Nordic jazz, R'n'B and folk. She recently went into the studio with her quartet to record her upcoming album, which will be released in spring 2026.

Veronica Mortensen is currently promoting her long-awaited album “Serenity”, which features new music written by herself. The album has received 5-star reviews from GAFFA, among others, who call her ‘one of Denmark's absolute strongest jazz singers’. Critics also praise the music as mature, balanced and stylish, and a luxurious concentrate of good, self-composed songs. With six albums under her belt, Veronica Mortensen's warm voice and soulful approach to Nordic jazz have won the hearts of audiences. Her engaging stage presence and melodious compositions have marked her as one of the most interesting figures on the Danish jazz scene. With her new album, she once again confirms that she is an artist with integrity and something to say.

Each singer presents their own repertoire in an independent set, accompanied by the same trio, which beautifully embraces both generations: Award-winning jazz pianist Peter Rosendal brings decades of experience and numerous album releases to the stage, while the young, up-and-coming talents Elias HP (bass) and Jakob Marker (drums) represent the new generation. The latter two can be heard – in addition to the Veronika Rud Quartet – in contexts such as Tigeroak and the David Miilman Group.
